Kim Huston

Kim Huston
NCEDA President

My name is Kim Huston and I’m the President of the Nelson County Economic Development Agency and Bardstown Industrial Development Corporation in Bardstown where these organizations oversee all the economic development activity including Industrial Development, Chamber of Commerce, Main Street and Tourism.

I have an extensive public service career that extends far past my economic development profession. I am a past Chairman and two-term Board member of the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED). I currently serve on the Lincoln Trail Area Development District Workforce Investment Board, the Louisville Regional Leadership Coalition, the Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority, The Guthrie Opportunity Foundation Board of Directors and on the Bernheim Forest Board of Trustees. I am also among an elite group of statewide Economic Development professionals to have been given the distinction as a KAED East Kentucky Power Economic Development Professional of the Year.

In 2015, my organization gained the distinction of being named by Southern Business and Development Magazine as the “Number One Economic Development Agency in the State of Kentucky.”

I am also a published author with the release of my book Small Town Sexy, the allure of living in small town America. I also travel extensively across the country speaking about the new allure of small towns and their economic development potential. My most recent accolade was an invitation to travel to Australia for several weeks, and be part of an international “Small Town Dream Team” teaching seminars and meeting with community leaders about their town’s challenges and opportunities. It’s my ultimate goal to convince people worldwide that you “can indeed live large in a small town.”

Michelle Gabbard

World Finance

My name is Michelle Gabbard. I was raised in Berea and I’ve lived in Cox’s Creek for over 12 years. I was a graduate of Berea High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. I am a member of Southland Christian Church in Danville and volunteer
in guest experience and the local backpack program. I’m an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoy gardening, hiking, the beach and historical touring adventures. I am a district manager with World Finance and have been with the company for 22 years. During my career with World Finance I have relocated and lived in larger
cities like Chattanooga, Tenn., and the small towns in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. I appreciate and prefer a close-knit community like Bardstown. Being a member of Bardstown Main Street Board has given me the opportunity to become more involved and give back to our community. I enjoy helping others and look forward to working with the main street program now and in the future.

Carrie Pride

Carrie Pride
Kentucky Standard

My name is Carrie Pride and I was born and raised in Bardstown. I am a graduate of Bardstown High School and Sullivan University where I majored in business administration. I am the community news coordinator for The Kentucky Standard, where I have been employed for 25 years. I am a 2022 recipient of the ECTC Beacon of Light Award, which honors African Americans for their successes, exemplary service to their professions and communities and their commitment to servant leadership and equity. I have also won several KPA journalism awards in writing and photography over the course of my career at the local newspaper. I am also a member of the Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber Diversity Program and on the Board of Directors of the ECTC Foundation. Following college graduation I traveled out west to Los Angeles and was employed as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Civil Engineering at the Auto Club of Southern California for 13 years. From growing up in a small town then migrating to a city bursting with a melting pot of culture and diversity enlightened me on more of what I could offer to our growing community. In my spare time I enjoy weight training at Darkside Athletics here in Bardstown, hiking, writing short stories and reading novels. I have one son, Joshua, and seven grandchildren. I joined the Bardstown Mainstreet Program Board to be a more active member in the events and programs our community has to offer. I have been a board member and former secretary for 3 years. In my time with the Board I have visited and toured other Main Streets throughout our region and I am impressed by our program and what we have and do in the community. I look forward to what we as a Board have in store for the future of our program.
